Thomas Collins: A short life lived to the full

Tommy, a managing director of Sandler O'Neill and Partners, was among those who died tragically in the terrorist attack on September 11th. His death is made especially ironic in that he was a survivor of the attack on the WTC that took place in 1993. Thomas was a graduate of Ithaca College, where he played on the varsity lacrosse team for four years and started as an attackman. After graduation in 1986, he worked with First Albany before joining Sandler O'Neill in 1988.

With an electric smile and always a quick joke, Thomas lived life to the fullest. He packed his 36 years full of activity, never wasting a single moment; he was an avid boater, golfer and sportsman. Tommy is survived by his wife, Julia; his father, Thomas, his mother, Dorothy, his sisters, Colleen and Jennifer, and his brother, Tim. (See Eulogy page for further detail on Tommy’s life).

Tailgate Party

On October 14th, the first annual Thomas J. Collins Jets Tailgate Party was held in honor of Tommy (an avid tailgater himself). Thanks to the many people who donated so much of their time to make it happen. A special thanks to Dean and Caryn Cirella, the Shyman Family, Ron Pearlman, Chris Picini, and Constance Schwartz, just to name a few. Check out the Photos Page for some great shots from the Event.

Pub Crawl

On November 17th, the 1st Annual Pub Crawl took place in New York. Fun was had by all who went from Pub to Pub, always with a toast to Tommy.
A special thanks to Steve Grau, who helped organized the event. We also want to thank the many groups and individuals that assisted Steve by donated the caps, ID’s, maps, and raffle items. Most of all, a whole-hearted thank you to everyone who contributed to the Tomas J. Collins Fund.
